Truenorth Hub is Newfoundland and Labrador's local-first food delivery platform — built here, for the people who cook here, order here, and drive here.
We are a technology company with a narrow ambition: make ordering from a local kitchen effortless for customers, worth it for restaurants, and fairly paid for the people who make the trip. One platform, one set of prices, no clever fees hiding at the bottom of a receipt.
Why we exist
The national delivery apps arrived in this province with economics designed somewhere else. A restaurant can hand over close to 30% of an order once every fee is counted. Driver pay compresses when supply swings. Customers meet surge pricing on the worst weather night of the month, and a support ticket lands in a queue several time zones away.
Those numbers work fine for a platform. They do not work for a twelve-seat kitchen on a side street, and they do not work for the person driving to it in freezing rain. Truenorth Hub exists to keep the convenience and change the arithmetic, so more of what a customer spends stays with the restaurant that cooked the food and the partner who delivered it.
What we are building
Three purpose-built apps and one operations team, sharing a single order and a single source of truth:
- The Customer app — order from trusted local kitchens in a few taps, then follow your food live from the moment it leaves the kitchen to the moment it reaches your door.
- The Restaurant app — real control over menus, pricing, prep times, availability and fulfillment, so the promise the customer sees is the restaurant's own and not an algorithm's guess.
- The Delivery Partner app — transparent CAD earnings per delivery, predictable zones, and shorter routes through neighbourhoods our partners already know.
- Local operations and support — a team in this province that can open the same order you are looking at and resolve it in one conversation.
What we stand for
- Fair commissions. A 12–15% commission target for partner restaurants, against the roughly 30% many operators report paying elsewhere once full fees are applied.
- No surge pricing. The delivery fee does not climb because it is Friday, because it is snowing, or because both are true at once.
- Earnings a partner can plan around. Clear CAD payout logic per delivery, visible before the trip and reconciled after it, with scheduled payouts rather than a moving target.
- Honest timing. Prep time comes from the restaurant, not from a platform average, and live tracking starts when the food is genuinely on its way.
- Evidence, not volume. Proof of delivery, timestamps and order records mean a dispute is settled by what actually happened — protection that cuts in every direction, for customers, restaurants and delivery partners alike.
- Local support. People who know the difference between a street that is hard to find and a street that is closed for the winter.
Built for this place
Newfoundland is not a rounding error on a national map. Weather closes roads, ferries and bridges change a route, and a fifteen-minute drive can become forty without warning. So the platform tells you: when a storm, a road closure or a traffic delay affects deliveries, customers, restaurants and delivery partners all get the same advisory at the same time, before anyone has to wonder where dinner is.
The same instinct shapes everything else — shorter local routes instead of long cross-town hauls, drivers who recognize the neighbourhood, and menus from kitchens you could walk to.
Careful with money and data
Payments are processed by Stripe, and restaurant payouts run through Stripe Connect on a predictable schedule, so a partner can see exactly what was earned, what was deducted and when it lands. We collect only the information needed to run ordering, delivery, support and compliance, handle it under Canadian privacy law, and we do not sell personal information. The details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, written to be read rather than skimmed.
Where we are headed
We are launching neighbourhood by neighbourhood rather than claiming a whole province on day one — starting with our phase 1 delivery zones, proving the model works for everyone in them, then expanding. Restaurants and delivery partners who join early help shape how the platform runs in their area.
Say hello
Whether you run a kitchen that deserves better economics, drive and want honest per-delivery pay, or simply want good local food at the door without the surge, join the waitlist or reach us at support@truenorth-hub.com. We would rather hear from you early than get it wrong at scale.
